Everyday Make Up #4

Eyeshadow - MUA Undress Me Too Palette (review here)

My last Everyday Make Up post was written back in March. A few products have changed since then so I thought I would update you with the products I'm currently reaching for everyday.

I have been using the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer most days since I bought it and I love it! However, some days when my pores resemble mini craters, I reach for Benefit's Porefessional. Silicone based primers are definitely my favourite as they even and smooth out my skin making it ready for make up.

Lush Light Yellow Colour Supplement* - I received this in a Lush goodie bag when I attended the Sheffield Meet Up. I absolutely love it. It evens my skin tone and helps to conceal imperfections. I also find that it doesn't oxidise and it blends beautifully on my skin.  I do think the price is a bit steep but I will probably repurchase when I run out as it matches my skin tone so well.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light  - This probably doesn't come as a surprise. You would probably find this concealer in every beauty blogger's make up bag. I have repurchased it over and over again and I will continue to for a long time to come. I have wrote a full review on my blog, which you can read here

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in Natural - I have been using this concealer for a while too. I use it to conceal my under eye area as I feel the Lasting Perfection Concealer is too thick for this area. It does a great job at concealer any dark circles while helping to highlight my eyes at the same time.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent  - Another firm favourite with beauty bloggers. I have wrote a full review here so you can read in more detail what I think. A perfect example of a great drugstore bargain! It helps to set my make up and make it last longer without looking cakey.

Rimmel Sunshimmer Bronzing Compact Powder in Light Matte - I have been using this bronzer for about three years now and I have been saying I want a new bronzer for quite a few months. To be honest, I don't know why. Why fix something if it isn't broken? It does a great job of adding a bronzed glow to my face and it's actually great to contour with as it doesn't contain glitter.

Sleek Face Form Contour Kit in Light - I actually picked this up as a mistake as I was after the Face Contour Kit but I'm glad as I love Face Form. It includes a contouring powder, a highlighting powder and Rose Gold blush, which is beautiful. The palette is the perfect size for travelling and fits in any make up bag.

Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba  - I recently reviewed this blush on my blog and you can read it here. It's a great everyday blush as it leaves a natural flush of colour on the cheeks which is buildable if you fancy wearing the shade in the evening.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Black - I bought this shortly after it's release and I have been using it almost everyday since. It's a lovely soft eyeliner which glides on smoothly and and evenly. Perfect for beginners.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara - I cannot believe I picked this up for £2! It's an amazing mascara which creates curls, separates my lashes and gives great length and volume. I cannot sing it's praises enough. I have to make sure my lashes are dry before blinking, but it doesn't take too long.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette  - I love MUA eyeshadow palettes, they're super cheap and high quality. I have reviewed this palette here in more detail. I love to mix and match from my palettes so each day I have a slightly different look.

Topshop Lipstick in Innocent - Altogether, I have three Topshop lipsticks. This is a perfect daytime shade and it's so easy to wear and apply on the lips. I love the formula and the finish of all Topshop lipsticks and if you haven't tried them, what are you waiting for?

Which products are you loving this month? Do you have any recommendations for me?

Week 34

Double rainbow in Ireland // Pop up American Diner // Beautiful beach in Ireland // The view from half way up Croagh Patrick // Crazy Waves // Cheeky ferry purchase // Another cheeky purchase! // La Tasca // My new baby!

Hi Lovelies,

So on Saturday, I got back from a lovely week in Ireland. I had never been to Ireland before and Rory had been promising for almost five years to take me! We had an amazing time and Ireland is beautiful. I didn't post too many pictures on Instagram, but I could have. We were on the beach every day and I could have shared that with you but I didn't want to bore you all with the same picture every day! We stayed in the county of Mayo on the west coast. The house we were staying in was beautiful and had floor to ceiling glass windows, which allowed us to view the beautiful views. I won't go into too much detail as I am planning on doing a separate post with lots of pictures!

As you can see from above, and if you follow me on twitter (@lostinlipstick), I finally bought an iPad! I have wanted to buy one for such a long time. I fully took advantage of payday and just decided to treat myself. I don't have a laptop (well I have an extremely slow one) so I use Rory's to blog on. Having an iPad just gives me more freedom and will help me with blogging. So thats my excuse! It's still so empty and I've had it over 24 hours now! Which apps do you recommend for me?

Whilst we were away, I had some bad news about my nephew, Jacob. He had to go to hospital and he is still there a week on. He had a few seizures due to blood on his brain because of a ruptured vein. He had surgery and he's on medication. I think he's ok now and hopefully he's coming out of hospital soon. He's been on day release yesterday and today. We just have to see what the doctors say tomorrow.

My sister and I were thinking of doing a raffle with our family and friends to raise more money for Jacob's sensory room. I ordered some catalogues of sensory toys but they are so expensive! Does anyone know if we are able to do this as it's not going to a charity? I don't want to do it and get in trouble! If you can shed any light on this topic, I would appreciate it.

What have you been up to this week?

Natural Collection Blusher in Peach Melba - Review

Natural Collection was a brand I used as a teenager before I had a part time job and to be honest I had stopped using it once I had more money to spend on make up. That was until I started reading beauty blogs about two years ago. Since then, I have been introduced to the Lip Creams and this beautiful blush. For an absolutely bargain price of £1.99 (or 3 for £5), I cannot complain. Yes the packaging could be better but then it wouldn't cost less than £2. Although, the screw lid makes it secure and perfect for travel. Just throw it in your handbag and you're ready to go.

The blush is a lovely natural shade and really compliments my fair skin tone. I'm not sure if it would show up on darker skin tones but there are four shades altogether in the collection so you would probably find a shade to suit you. The texture is quite powdery and has a powdery scent. Personally, this is something I can put up with as the shade is so pretty and the price is so amazing. The pigmentation is fairly good. Obviously not as good as high end blushers but great for £1.99. The blush is completely matte with no shimmer which makes it perfect for a subtle, daytime blush.

Have you used any Natural Collection products? Are there any products you recommend for me?

Watermelon Raindrop Guest Post - Red Lips

I am on holiday from 17th August until 24th August so I have arranged for some guest posts from some fabulous bloggers. Next up is the lovely Perdi. I hope you enjoy this post.

Rachel x

Hey everyone, I'm Perdi from the blog watermelonraindropx.blogspot.co.uk! I'm a London based fashion and beauty blogger. I'm so happy to be guest blogging on here, thanks Rachel!

Today I'm writing about my favourite red lip combo!

I love these two products. The first is the Topshop lipstick (£8) in Hazard and the lipgloss is by Nars in the colour Super-Vendome.

Usually, I start off by exfoliating my lips. I love E.L.F's Exfoliating Lip Scrub, but Lush always do a good one! Then I moisturise with my trusty Nivea Milk & Honey lip balm. I then use my version of a lip liner, I use my Topshop Lip Bullet in Joyride as a base. Then I apply the lipstick and lipgloss.

I like how the lip colour is a slightly darker red and looks great on all skin types!

That's all from me today. If you've enjoyed reading this post, I hope you check me out, all my links will be at the bottom! I'd also like to say thank you to Rachel for letting me do this!

Etta's Threads Guest Post - Summer Survival Items

I am on holiday from 17th August until 24th August so I have arranged for some guest posts from some fabulous bloggers. Next up is the beautiful Etta. She is from America but she has tried to make the post as UK friendly as possible. I hope you enjoy this post.

Rachel x

Summer brings us scorching temperatures and long nights.

With summer comes a few staple products that make the scorching temperature bearable and the long nights achievable.
In my clutch, purse, satchel...whatever you carry your must-have items in.

loving, loathing, and lusting segment 1
Number One. Avene Thermal Spring Water. I ALWAYS carry this with me. Why? Because all I have to do is give myself a quick spritz and it brings my body temperature back down to a human level. What is it? It is a spray that calms, soothes, and softens your skin. It is basically a refresher for your skin which has been a lifesaver during these summer months.

eos & clinique
Number Two & Three. Clinique Chubby Stick & EOS lip balm. The Clinique chubby stick I have is in Pudgy Peony and it is a faint pink color which only emphasizes my natural lip color. It is very moisturizing but I still apply my EOS lip balm before I apply the colour balm. I love EOS lip balms because they are natural, smell great, and they give my lips some serious moisture. The clinique chubby stick is everything I thought it would be colorful and moisturizing!

Number Four. Okay, so number four isn't a item I can carry around in my purse but it is one of my favorite summer fashion trends.

I love peplum tops, floral prints, and of course coral colored heels. The flare jeans just add an extra spark to my look. To be honest with you, I am not looking forward to summer's end soon but I am more than excited for the launch of fall items.

What are some items you have been absolutely loving all summer?

Thank you Rachel, for allowing me to join you here on Lost in Lipstick from my blog Etta's Threads and I hope your blog family loves my post just as much as I loved creating it!!

Luv4Fashion Guest Post - Restyling Myself

I am on holiday from 17th August until 24th August so I have arranged for some guest posts from some fabulous bloggers. This post is written by Simon who is a male fashion blogger. I hope you enjoy this post.

Rachel x

Hi, I'm Simon. I'm 35, married to the lovely Elaine and after living around Greater Manchester for 12 years have grown to love this city! I've been working on women's fashion and styling for about 12 years and in the last couple of years have started writing about this on luv4fashion.com The blog also finds me writing about food at home and dining out, as well as anything else we get up to.

My style has changed a lot over the last couple of years; since I turned 30 and became an office worker I've gone through two different styles in just 5 years! After leaving hotels and being tied into office job where I was restricted in shirts and ties I went into a job where I was able to wear anything I wanted too.

Being a geek I indulged in a few pop culture t-shirts to wear every day with jeans. I say a few, I think I still own about 100 of the things. It suited my lifestyle; working in a casual office, not needing to dress smartly and it was enjoyable collecting all those t-shirts with everything from Jamie & the Magic Torch & Ghostbusters through to Jaws & Star Wars. See I said I was a geek, 100% and I'm not ashamed of it!

One thing I did always like though was a good suit, I'm a big fan of tailoring so I always kept a couple of good suits and some nice shirts and ties for special occasions. I always used to collect new suits, at one point owning 7 of them. Not excessive, but I guess it is when you don't wear them for work! My favourite still is the fantastic grey slim-fit three piece suit from next, a bargain at £129. Would be fabulous if I could fit into it properly now!

Over the last 18 months I made a decision to move away from the t-shirts and jeans and have been rebuilding my wardrobe in almost every sense. I put away lots of the t-shirts, even threw some out. Taking inspiration from my love of tailoring, I looked at casual shirts, chinos and casual shoes.

Anybody that knows me is aware chinos have never been my things, but visiting H&M, Primark and Next I found everything I could want to start a new trend in my wardrobe. Different coloured chinos, even some cardigans, something I'd never normally wear and some new shirts meant there was a new me walking down the street.

I've now started a new obsession with collecting sports and casual jackets, you'd be amazed how much difference they can change an outfit to make it look smart and give an appearance for a smart night out, any level of budget can pick up a nice one, priced from £10 up to £100 depending on your need!

Since then I've even moved onto chino shorts, summery short sleeved shirts and loafers. After I visited the new Topman store I've picked up even more; I'd even joke that I'm down with the kids and starting to dress like One Direction or whatever the hell they're called; I'm 35, I do women's fashion and to find a new style for myself has been good fun and refreshing.

Knickers & Nail Polish Guest Post - Summer Scents (Duty Free Edition)

I am on holiday from 17th August until 24th August so I have arranged for some guest posts from some fabulous bloggers. Next is the lovely Sarah. We have actually done a guest post swap so if you head over to her blog, you should be able to see a post written by me! I hope you enjoy this post.

Rachel x

Hi, I'm Sarah & I normally blog over at Knickers & Nail Polish. Thank you to Rachel for letting me loose over here today whilst she’s away.

So the time has come to head off onto holibobs for some sun and that means hitting up the Duty Free! I get a new perfume every time I go through Duty Free as it’s so much cheaper, meaning I can get the fragrances what I want. These are a few of my go to summer scents that you should check out next time that you’re in Duty Free.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs – This one screams summer to me. It’s really fruity and girly, with lots of sweet smelling layers. If you are a girly girl, then this is the bottle for you, plus it’s a gorgeous bottle! A great perfume for a fun daytime trip with the girlies.

Cool Water by Davidoff – Another great daytime scent, this one is a lot cleaner and subtle than Daisy. A very fresh scent, more floral than fruity. This is a great one for throwing on in the morning when it’s a bit cooler as when it starts to heat up, you notice the vanilla. I like this one when it’s cooler in the summer, especially if I'm meeting up with friends for lunch or heading into London.

Inspiration by Lacoste – This one’s a cheapy but a goody. I love how fresh this one is, great if you’re planning a lazy day as it’s not full on, but it’s a good little perfume. I like this one for throwing in my bag when I go out for the day as I can spray it on and top it up later on.

Chloe by Chloe – Oh summer evening, I love you like I love this perfume. It’s an iconic scent, which is warm and fruity, perfect for summer evening BBQs and late night meals by the sea. It has notes of Musk which are really nice in the evening, plus the bottle looks super cute on the dressing table.

Covert Pure Bloom by Sarah-Jessica Parker – Another oldie but well worth picking up. This is my go to holiday scent, especially in the evening. I love the size of this bottle as well as the smell. A very floral fragrance, it has coconut and jasmine and smells amazing! I think this one is a must to pick up, this is my second bottle.

So there you have it, a range of perfumes for a range of prices, perfect for picking up in Duty Free. Which one would you pick?

Week 33

Sweet and Sour chicken with soft egg noodles and sugar snap peas // Removing glitter nail polish // Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream // Diesel x Festival Number 6 Launch Party // Me & Frances posing // Bridal knickers in Victoria's Secret // #midsummermeet // Amazing goody bag // Waiting to board the ferry to Ireland // Old Head Beach in Ireland // Delicious ice cream // View of Croagh Patrick from our house

Hi Lovelies,

I'm writing this from Ireland, currently overlooking Croagh Patrick. It's my first visit to Ireland and I love it. It's so beautiful. We've actually been fairly lucky so far with the weather. We have rain one minute and glorious sunshine one minute, which means we've witnessed two amazing double rainbows where we've been able to see the start and finish! Pot of gold anyone?

This week has been busy on the blogging events front. I'm very grateful that there are more and more events up North, especially in Manchester. On Tuesday, I attended the launch party for the Diesel x Festival Number 6 festival. I had a great night and it provided me a perfect chance to catch up with blogger friends. On Thursday, I attended the #midsummermeet, which was organised by LookFantastic, My Bag and All Sole. There were some fantastic brands there and we had some great demonstrations. I will be writing a blog post on the event once I'm home from Ireland.

What have you been up to this week?

The New Northerner Guest Post - Summer Skin Care Routine

I am on holiday from 17th August until 24th August so I have arranged for some guest posts from some fabulous bloggers. Next up is the lovely Lucy who I recently met at the #ManchesterMeetUp. I hope you enjoy this post.

Rachel x

Hi! My name is Lucy and I have a little blog called The New Northerner where I write all about my life and loves, from beauty to yummy food!

Today I'm writing a guest post for Rachel to share with you - my everyday skincare routine during the summer.

Morning routine

I have a slightly different routine, depending on whether it is morning or evening.

In the morning, I wash my face with the Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Wash Gel. This is just a really simple basic cleanser that does a great job of waking me up in the morning and refreshing my skin without leaving it feeling stripped.

Once I've patted my face dry, I use the No 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum. Now this is a product that has received a lot of hype over the years. And yes, I've bought right into it! I'm only in my twenties so I'm not a wrinkly old lady yet, but I use this in the hope that it might prevent / delay the wrinklies. I don't use it all over my face; I just use it on my forehead and around my eyes as I figure that those are the areas that are most likely to develop any wrinkles.

As a contrast to anti-ageing, I also always have a spot treatment on hand, in case I get the attack of any blemish nasties. I recently picked up the Grease Lightning Spot Treatment from Lush when I was on the Manchester Blogger Meet Up (which is incidentally the first time I met Rachel!). I've seen a lot of people talking about this in the blogger community so I was keen to give a shot. It’s full of tea tree and witch hazel, aiming to get rid of any spots before they show themselves. So far I'm pretty impressed and I do think that it has made a difference. I don’t have bad skin by any means, but I am prone to the odd blemish around my chin area every now and again, and I do think that this has reduced the size of any blemishes I've had. The only downside to this product is the pump. Whilst it makes the product very hygienic, I feel that it dispenses too much product at a time, which would be fine if you wanted to use it over a large area, but not if you only want a small amount.

Then for moisturising, during the summer months I use the L'Occitane Angelica UV Shield as my moisturiser. I'm super pale so an SPF is essential for me and this product has SPF 40 which is perfect. It contains organic angelica water and essential oils so it has a lovely light, smooth texture when you apply it, but doesn't leave the skin feeling at all oily. It just leaves a lovely radiant finish. I have bought multiple bottles of this and am totally hooked!

Evening routine

In the evening, I obviously don't need any SPF, plus I look for a slightly more intensive cleanser to remove my make up.

To take off the grime of the day, I use the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, which I know is also one of Rachel’s favourites. This is a product that is definitely worth the hype; I absolutely love it. It leaves my face feeling so clean and smooth. It's a really rich cream that you massage into your dry skin and then use the muslin cloths that come with it to gently polish off the cream, followed by rinsing your face off with water. It has a really herby smell which must come from the rosemary in it. Using the muslin cloths is great because it gives you a bit of an exfoliation as well as a cleanse. Once I've dried my skin, I'll pop on some of my No 7 serum and the Grease Lightning if I need any.

Then it’s time to get down to moisturising. I use the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. This does what it says on the tin and is just a simple moisturiser that I have bought time and time again. It doesn't feel as luxurious as the L'Occitane, but then again, what do you expect when you're paying only about 10% of the price!

My final step is the Eve Lom Eye Cream. This is a really thick eye cream so I only use it at night as it can be a bit rich to try and apply make up on top when I'm in a rush in the mornings. This feels really luxurious, and so it should do for the price tag!

About once a week, if I fancy a treat, I will pop on a face mask. The ones I'm using currently are from the Avon Planet Spa Face Mask Gift Set which comes with three different types of masks, all in little individual sachets. With face masks, I often find that sachets contain too much product, but these contain just the right amount. You get the Mediterranean Olive Oil Hydrating Face Mask, Japanese Sake and Rice Smoothing Face Mask and the Dead Sea Minerals Facial Mud Mask. My favourite is the mud mask as it just leaves my face feeling so clean. I'll put one onto a freshly cleansed face and even though it’s really thick, it dries in about five minutes. To remove it I use a wet flannel and then give my face a clean with the Liz Earle to make sure that I've removed all of the product. This is a fun, inexpensive set to try if you're looking to try out a few different face masks.

So there you have it – my current skincare routine! I'm pretty happy with it right now, but if you have any product recommendations for me, please let me know!

Diesel x Festival Number 6 Launch Party

Elizabeth Chandler Photography

DJ set from Horse Meat Disco

On Tuesday 13th August, Diesel hosted the Festival Number 6 event at the Manchester King Street Store featuring DJ sets from Horse Meat Disco and a live set from Dutch Uncles. Unfortunately, I had to leave before the live set as I had to catch my train home. Following an award-winning and hugely successful launch last year, Festival Number 6 is proud to announce it's joining forces with pioneering denim stalwarts Diesel. Diesel is the only fashion brand associated with the Portmeirion festival in September. The festival has an amazing line up including My Bloody Valentine, Manic Street Preachers and more

Amy, Cat, me, Frances & Fi

Me & Frances

Delicious Sicilian Lemonade (Elizabeth Chandler Photography)

The event kicked-off the partnership and adds to the build up of Diesel's collaboration with the festival taking place 13th-15th September 2013 in Portmeirion. On arrival, we were checked off the guest list and told to help ourselves to drinks as it was a free bar! Thank you Diesel! We were able to relax and social to the sounds of Horse Meat Disco.

The beautiful Monica (Elizabeth Chandler Photography)

We headed upstairs to the ladies department, where we were able to view the capsule collection put together by Monica from The Elgin Avenue. The event offered the chance to have a first look at the collection before it will be seen in select Diesels stores. If you cannot make it to a store, you can view the collection here on Monica's blog.

Beautiful patterned trousers

I want these boots, they are gorgeous!

I have never been to a festival but I would love to. This one sounds perfect set in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, I cannot attend because of work but if you can make sure you pick up tickets here.

Will you be heading to Festival Number 6 this year? Have you ever been to a festival?
