Week 38

Chocolate shoes from Slattery // Sweet and Sour chicken with sweet potato mash and asparagus // 500 followers on twitter! Thank you! // Buckingham Palace // McFly at The Royal Albert Hall // McFly at The Royal Albert Hall

Hi Lovelies,

It has been a fairly quiet week this week besides my awesome weekend in London. Some of you may know, I am a McFly fan and I have been for 10 years. To celebrate their 10th anniversary they played 4 sold out shows at The Royal Albert Hall. I've only been to London once before but my friend is currently living down there so I went to stay with her and we went to see McFly together. It was awesome! I recommend you see them live if you haven't already. They play  every song with so much energy and passion. Here's to the next 10 years!

I've been having a lot of headaches recently. I've put it down to my prescription as at my last eye test, I was told I need new glasses but I haven't had any spare money to buy any yet. I'm hoping to go get some this week, or next. I can't put up with these headaches anymore.

What have you been up to this week?

Week 37

Mini birthday cake // Takeaway calzone from a restaurant that Ryan Giggs used to own // 50,000 views // Party time! // My new handbag // Latest beauty purchases

Hi Lovelies,

This week has been a fairly quiet week but my blog reached 50,000 views which is a massive achievement for me and I'm so happy and so grateful to everyone that has read and supported my blog. Thank you!

Last Tuesday morning, I woke up with a swollen, painful knee for absolutely no reason. I have done nothing to it that I can think of but I'm still in pain. I've been to the doctors twice now and I'm on strong, anti-inflammatory painkillers but they don't know what is wrong only that it's muscular or my ligaments! I've just got to wait for it to heel itself, which could take 3-4 weeks!

On Saturday, I went out into Manchester with my friends as a joint birthday celebration. I haven't been out in town for a long time but I had a great, late night (even though I couldn't dance properly because of my knee!) I was in my own bed at 3:30am and didn't wake up till 1:30pm on Sunday! I felt 18 all over again!

What have you been up to this week?

#MidSummerMeet with LookFantastic, MyBag and AllSole

(Apologies for this post being up so late! I actually attended this event a whole month ago but it was two days before I went to Ireland and I wasn't able to blog about it then. I still haven't gotten back into a blogging routine since returning from Ireland.)

On Thursday 15th August, I attended a fabulous event hosted by LookFantastic, MyBag and AllSole. I met up with some lovely bloggers and we made our way over to the event, which was held at Walrus Canteen and Lounge in the Northern Quarter, Manchester. As we arrived, we were greeted and given a token for a free drink. I chose a pineapple juice and it was delicious. We were also told to help ourselves to a cupcake, which were also delicious.

There were lots of great brands there including Benefit, Burts Bee, Nails Inc, Moroccanoil and EVO Haircare. We were given the opportunity to chat to brand and try the products. I particularly enjoyed a mini makeover at Benefit and trying some haircare products from Moroccanoil.

There were also some fabulous demonstrations from various brands. My favourite was definitely the contouring one from Benefit. Each demonstration was about 10 minutes long and showcased the products beautifully. Other demonstrations included; L'Oreal Steam Pod, Show haircare products and Moroccanoil.

We were extremely lucky to receive the amazing goodie bag pictured below. It included many products that I have been dying to try and I'm sure you will see a lot of them again on here as I review them.

On the night, we had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets. I decided to buy two and a week after the event, I received a tweet to tell me that I was the lucky winner of the 3rd Prize. I won an amazing EVO haircare gift set, a Moroccanoil haircare gift set, a Macadamia tangle brush and an Orly nail polish. When I arrived home from Ireland, my neighbour greeted me with my prize and I couldn't wait to open it!

I just want to say thank you to LookFantastic, MyBag and AllSole for a fantastic event. It was a great opportunity to chat to brands and other bloggers. Some I had met before but also a great chance to meet new bloggers.

August Empties

Soap & Glory Clean On Me Shower Gel - I started using this in January and I've only just finished it but it's not the only shower gel I used in that time. I absolutely loved this shower gel; it smelt delicious, it was the perfect formula and it was moisturising. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it's in this years' Best Of giftset but if it's not then I will definitely be repurchasing.

Tresemme Deep Cleansing Shampoo - I use this shampoo once a week or once every two weeks just to deep cleanse my hair. I've stopped using shampoo and conditioner with SLS in but some of the treatments I use, contain them. Eventually, I plan on never using products containing SLS but a few months ago, I went crazy and bought a lot of products so I need to use them up first. This is actually a really good shampoo and deep cleansing my hair. It removes any build up and I also use it if my hair is a little greasy. I actually have two more bottles as it was buy one, get one free a while back!

Neal & Wolf Harmony Intensive Care Treatment - I received this in a gift set one Christmas from my parents, along with a beautifully scented candle. Unfortunately, the candle burned a long time ago but due to my large haircare collection, this treatment seemed to last a lot longer. As my hair is in such bad condition, I applied this after conditioner to the ends of my hair. It provided it with an extra boost of moisture. I'm still undecided whether I liked the smell or not.  In my opinion, it smelt like glue!

Dove Invisible Dry Anti-Perspirant - A random empty and not one I usually include in my monthly empties but I wanted to talk about it and I didn't want to write a whole blog post on deodorant! I prefer a spray deodorant as they are more hygienic than roll ons, however, long term they get on my chest and leave me with a nasty cough. Because of this, the majority of the time, I use a roll on but occasionally use a spray. I used this when it was in the regular can before it was compressed into a smaller can.  It's a fantastic idea to reduce waste and supposedly, they contain the same amount and you use the same amount as before, but I can't help think it didn't last me as long.  Does anyone else feel this way?

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser - Another month, another Cleanse & Polish. I've actually just bought the Limited Edition Grapefruit and Patchouli one, which smells delicious. However, I am having a few issues with the pump. It isn't dispensing a measured amount and I'm having to pump it several times to get enough for my face.  A tiny bit just spurts out each time. I'm guessing I have a faulty one.

Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion - This has been a lifesaver over Summer. I suffer from hayfever and it affects my eyes quite a bit. When I woke up in the morning, my eyes would be puffy and stuck together. I would soak two cotton wool pads and bathe my eyes for about five minutes and my eyes felt refreshed and awake afterwards. I definitely recommend Eyebright if you suffer from hayfever or something similar. It has only been a lifesaver at 6am and I've had a bad nights sleep. It helps me feel (and look) more awake!

Skinetica Anti-Blemish* - I have been very lucky that I have received two of these in goodie bags. So when this bottle ran out, I was able to continue using it. Although, it contains alcohol, it doesn't leave my face feeling dry. I use it at least once a day, sometimes twice, by sweeping a soaked cotton wool pad across my face and leaving it to dry before I apply the next step in my skincare. It only takes a minute to dry and I usually check Instagram while I'm waiting!

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel (sample) - I received this as a sample when I ordered from Clarins online. I first heard Lily Melrose talk about it and she seemed to love it. I like the formula how it was a gel and turned into an oil but I don't think it was suitable for my skin. Clarins suggests it's suitable for all skin types, just obviously not mine. It broke me out and gave me lots of little spots under the skin.

Soap & Glory Hand Food - I will definitely repurchase this but I secretly hope it's in a gift set this Christmas! The hand cream sinks in perfectly leaving my hands feeling soft and moisturised. It's an added bonus that it smells delicious. Soap & Glory was a brand I only discovered last Christmas and I have definitely been missing out. Every product that I've tried so far, I've loved.

Hugo Boss Orange Woman - I bought this perfume a while back, probably about two years ago. I was out shopping with one of my best friends and we spotted it, smelt it and bought it! It's lasted me as long as it has because at one point I had five different perfumes which I rotated. I kept it away from hear and out of direct sunlight which prevents perfume from expiring earlier. I love this perfume and I will probably repurchase at somepoint. I'm not very good at describing scents so I'll leave it to the experts!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - No empties post would be complete without a Collection concealer. This month it's the infamous Lasting Perfection Concelaer. One of these tubes seems to last me about two months. Maybe a little less but I do use it everyday and a lot as I have lots of spots to conceal!!

Which products have you used up this month? Have you been loving any of these products?

Week 36

My nephew's Converse // American Vogue and refreshments // Krispy Kreme // Blog Planner // Lost In Lipstick turned one // Giveaway on my blog // My birthday! // Red Hot World Buffet // Birthday offer

Hi Lovelies,

It's been a busy week this week in terms of birthdays. My blog turned one on Thursday and I turned 26 yesterday. To celebrate my blog turning one, I am holding a giveaway to win either a MAC lipstick or MAC eyeshadow of your choice so make sure you enter it here.

Back in August, I found out I was a Red Hot Taste Maker for Red Hot Buffet. I decided to make my first visit last night to celebrate both my blog turning one and my birthday. I have been to Red Hot Buffet in Manchester a few times before so I was really looking forward to it. We had a lovely time and a review will be going up on my blog very soon.

I returned to work on Tuesday after six lovely weeks off. It's definitely been a challenge forcing myself to get up when my alarm goes off! I already miss the freedom and I've only been back a week! I also miss being able to blog everyday and attending all the events I did in Summer. Fingers crossed, they'll be some lovely Christmas events soon to get me in the mood!

My obsession with Pretty Little Liars is still going strong! I'm in season three now, which means I watched two seasons in two weeks! I am so hooked to the storyline and cannot wait to find out what happens next! I had already watched two episodes before 8am this morning!

What have you been up to this week?

Ireland 2013

In August, I went to Ireland for the first time with my fiance, Rory and his family. We stayed in a place called Louisburgh in County of Mayo. I had a fabulous time and we were really lucky with the weather. It was lovely to go away and just relax and not have to worry about anything. The house that we stayed in was beautiful and had wonderful views of the mountains and the sea. I thought it would be nice if I shared a few of my pictures with you.

The view from our house

Beautiful blue sky

100 yards from our house

We loved playing in the rock pools

Golden, sandy beach

The weather taking a turn for the worse!

We usually had the beach all to ourselves!

I got this high and gave up!

Have you ever been to Ireland? Have you ever climbed Croagh Patrick?

Lost In Lipstick is one! Giveaway!

Yesterday, Lost In Lipstick turned 1! I'm sad that I didn't manage to blog on the day but I've been super busy and tired since starting back at work. In 2012, I had been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a while as I loved reading blogs and spent a lot of my time reading beauty and fashion blogs. At the end of August, I decided to bite the bullet and create a blog. I spent a few days brainstorming ideas for blog names that weren't used and came up with Lost In Lipstick. Then on the evening of Wednesday 5th September, I sat at my computer and typed my very first cringey blogpost! I am so proud of my blog and what is has achieved so far. I love blogging and the blogging community. Every single blogger that I have spoke to online or met in person, at events or meet ups, have been lovely and I consider you all friends.

I want to say thank you to every single one of you that has read my blog, followed my blog and commented on my blog. You help to make my hobby so much more enjoyable. Also to all the people that follow me on twitter, Instagram and talk to me on there. It's not about the followers but I can't deny that it doesn't make me smile when I see I have a new follower or a new comment. There is so much more that I want to achieve on my blog and I hope Lost In Lipstick is still here in many years to come. In the past week or so, I haven't blogged a lot as I started back at work but I have printed a blog planner to help me set up a routine and become more organised with my time. I look forward to the next year and what it brings.

Week 35

Domino's Two for Tuesdays // Soft egg noodles with chicken, sugar snap peas and bean sprouts in a black bean sauce // Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner courtesy of Boots points // Naughty Subway // Addiction to Pretty Little Liars // Beautiful Lilies

Hi Lovelies,

I've not really done much this week. It's been my last week before I start back at work tomorrow and to be honest I just wanted to do nothing! It's unbelievable how quickly six weeks has flown by. I'm glad I managed to blog everyday before I went to Ireland. I really loved blogging everyday and I will miss it when I'm back at work. I'm disappointed that I didn't keep up with that once I returned. I still love blogging but I appear to have lost a little motivation to do anything recently. Maybe starting back at work, will kick my arse into gear!

One thing I have been doing a lot of this week is watching Pretty Little Liars. I decided to start watching it on Friday and it has grown into a full on obsession. In four days, I have watched 29 episodes! I love it and because they use such great cliffhangers, I just can't help but click on the next episode. I am absolutely loving the show and I cannot wait until I'm up to date with everyone else, which at this rate, won't be long!

What have you been up to this week?
