Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Clear - Review

Eyebrows! Eyebrows! Eyebrows! Mine are a pain in the neck! I absolutely hate them. They never look how I want them to look. My hair is thick and curly and so are my eyebrows! I have been having my eyebrows waxed for years, probably over 10 years now! A few years ago, I over plucked my eyebrows and I'm still trying to grow them back so I don't trust myself to pluck them. Hence why I go to a salon to get them waxed.

Regardless of whether I'm wearing make up or not, I still have to comb my brows! They are so wild and unruly! I don't necessarily need to fill them in everyday as they are darker than my hair and sometimes I feel it's too much. However, some days I feel the need to fill them in in some areas, for this I use the MUA Brow Kit.

My eyebrow routine consists of combing my brows with a brow comb, filling them in, if I feel it necessary, combing through again, setting them with a gel or wax and finally combing them again! Up until about a month ago, I had been using the wax from the MUA Brow Kit to set my brows. However, I found this too waxy and it never really dried on my brows. It left my brows feeling waxy for hours. Many beauty bloggers use a clear mascara instead. Therefore I set out to find a version cheap enough to try that I liked. As any beauty blogger would, I turned to other beauty blogs. Many had tried and loved the Collection one and for £1.99 it's worth a try!

The Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Clear does a perfect job of setting my brows and combing them at the same time with the mascara wand. I haven't used it as a mascara so I can't comment on its primary function but as a brow gel, it's perfect. The mascara is protein enriched too which helps to condition and strengthen your lashes (or brows in my case!) I have extremely unruly brows but by using this mascara they stay tame for hours. Furthermore,  it dries after a few minutes and doesn't leave my eyebrows feeling wet.

The shelf life on the mascara is 6 months but lots of people throw them out after 3 months. However, my clear mascara isn't that clear anymore! I would share a picture here but it's disgusting! (You can see it slightly off colour here but that picture was taken a month ago so it's much worse now!) Therefore I think I will purchase a new one every 2 months. But at the purse friendly price of £1.99, that's not a problem and would only cost £12 a year! A small price to pay for tame brows! Next time I'm in Boots or Superdrug, I'm definitely stocking up and I think you should too!

What is your eyebrow routine? What product do you use to set your brows?

IKEA Haul

IKEA Haul Picture Frames

IKEA Haul Glass Wear

IKEA HAUL White

IKEA Haul Candles

IKEA Haul Plants

14. FEJKA Plant £6.50 15. ORADD Plant Pot 65p

On Tuesday, I went to one of my favourite shops - IKEA. If that makes me sound sad, I don't care! I really have to restrain myself from spending a fortune in there. On this occasion, my mum was there to help reign me in and I only spent a small fortune, after putting half the stuff I wanted back! I didn't go there needing anything, only wanting. I wanted some nik naks, some bits and bobs, to decorate our house and fill some spaces.

Firstly, I bought some picture frames. Since we moved into our house, in November, we haven't decorated with any pictures or photo frames. Considering we are decorating our living room, I thought now was the perfect opportunity to stock up. IKEA sell prints to put in the frames but I couldn't find any the right size, plus I think family/friends photographs will look more homely. Second on the list were some ornaments/vases. I want to get another glass vase to go with the carafe and vase so they stand together in a three. I'm not sure where they will go yet but I will find a home for them soon! I bought the glass tealight holder to house my cotton wool and ear buds on my dressing table. They are really pretty and actually look like something I could have picked up from a charity shop or car boot sale.

I finally got my hands on the SKURAR plant pots! I have been trying to get them for months now but each time I go to IKEA, they have sold out of the smaller ones. I know a lot of people have them but they are just so pretty and I love the lace effect. I bought them as make up brush holders to go with my white HEMNES dressing table, also from IKEA. I bought some dried rice from the supermarket so my brushes stand up straight. Rice is much cheaper than the little stones/beads you can buy and considering my container is opaque, no one will see it. I also picked up a tealight lantern in white. I already have the silver one, which is currently downstairs in my living room, but I thought the white one would look pretty on or near to my dressing table. The white bowls are probably the most boring purchase from the day but they were a necessity. We have a dishwasher and while we are waiting for it to be filled before we switch it on, bowls are always the first thing we run out of. Hopefully, not any longer!

Now, who can go to IKEA without purchasing at least one candle? I can't, that's for sure! I bought the brown candles for my bathroom as our tiles are cream and brown and I thought these would look pretty on the windowsill. I also have the same candles in red, for the living room, and purple, for our bedroom. I purchased 9 glass candles dishes for all these candles as without them, the candles stain the windowsill and they were only 45p each. The TINDRA candle smells of vanilla, who can resist vanilla candles? I already have quite a few tealight candles but I thought I would stock up as these were £1.75 for 100! Bargain!

Last but not least on my list were some (shhh) artificial plants for my kitchen windowsill. I think three in a line look so pretty (how many times can I say pretty in one post?) and it finishes off my kitchen nicely. I also bought a door mat, a notebook and a teddy for my nephew but I couldn't find these on the website. I have used the photos from the IKEA website in this post because as I mentioned earlier, we are decorating and not everything has a home just yet. If you would like me to take some photographs once everything has a home, let me know in the comments below and I will.

Do you love IKEA as much as me? What have you bought lately?

February/March 2013 Favourites

Hi lovelies!

I know, I know it's nearly April and I'm just getting round to posting my February Favourites! I have no idea what happened. I took these photos early in March and they've just been waiting on my camera. As it's nearly April and I'm still using these products on a regular basis, this is going to be my February/March Favourites. I've been trying not to spend as much money on make up and beauty products lately so I haven't got any new favourites for March.

MUA Heaven & Earth Eye Shadow Palette - This has quickly become my favourite MUA palette. However, that may all change soon, as I want the Undress Me Too palette! I'm a neutral girl through and through so this palette is perfect for me. As I said in my review, I am wearing shimmer eye shadows more often now where as I used to only reach for matte shades. You can see some closer photos and swatches in my review. You can purchase this palette from Superdrug in store or MUA online or Superdrug online. This palette is a bargain at £4 as the shadows are great quality and they are highly pigmented.

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub - If you're anything like me, the cold weather has left your lips feeling dry and chapped. My solution - gently exfoliate your lips with LUSH bubblegum lip scrub before slapping tons of lip balm on every evening before bed. It works a treat and smells (and tastes) delicious! My lips are left feeling soft and moisturised (from the lip balm) the next day, ready for some lipstick. You can buy it in stores or online, priced at £5.25.

Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch - This is a product that was on my wishlist for months and months. I wasn't sure I could justify £26 for such a small pot but I got my hands on a 1 ml sample and I was hooked!  It leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, which is the perfect base for my foundation. It does a fairly good job at hiding my pores but some days they are massive and I need some cement!!! Luckily, after Christmas the Clarins website was holding a sale which included the Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. They were offering the standard 50 ml pot and a 30 ml tube of Beauty Flash Balm for £17.50. Before I knew it, I was checking out and selecting my three free samples to try (which, by the way Clarins, is an amazing idea as I now have more Clarins items on my wishlist)!

Collection Colour Lash All Day Colour Mascara in Clear - I have been wanting a gel to set my eyebrows for a long time. There is a wax in the MUA Brow Kit, which I use, but I hate how I have to use my fingers to apply it and there isn't a lot of it in the kit. I have seen that a few people use clear mascara to set their brows. So when I spotted this in Superdrug for £1.99, I had to try it. I'm actually liking it so far and I will definitely repurchase it. It's not actually clear any more as the powder that I use to fill my eyebrows has come off on the brush so it looks a bit disgusting! It also includes protein and I have noticed my eyebrows grow more since I started to use it. So if you're looking to grow your brows, or lashes, I definitely recommend it.

Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in Light - I actually wanted to pick up the Sleek Face Contour Kit, which is £6.49 as I had seen so many people rant and rave about it. Every time I popped in Superdrug, it was sold out. Then I spotted Face Form, which includes a contour shade, a highlight and a blush for £10. The blush looked really pretty so I couldn't resist and bought this instead. I'm so glad I did. I use all three of the products and it's the perfect palette for travelling with.

Avon Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in Pout - This is the first Avon lipstick I have purchased and so far I love it! The shade is perfect and the formulation is creamy and moisturising. Application is so easy and effortless. I will definitely be purchasing more shades from Avon, I just haven't decided which ones yet! Any recommendations? The RRP of these are £7 but Avon often have offers on so keep your eyes open. I think I got this for £2.49 or £3.49.

What have been your favourite products this month? Have any of your favourites made my list?

Week 12

Early Easter treat while watching CSI, Free delivery at H&M - don't mind if I do, Fox footlets from Primark found at the bottom of my drawer, Used olive oil in my hair for the first time - it feels super soft, My dressing table the morning after the night before, Tidy and clean dressing table.

Hi lovelies!

Another quiet week on the photo front and I don't know why. I'm just super busy lately, hence the lack of blog posts. I've hated not blogging but I'm off for two weeks now and I plan to get back on track. I find it a lot easier if I draft posts when I have lots of time and then I can publish them when I'm so busy. I absolutely love blogging and reading blogs so I have really missed it while I have been so busy. We haven't done any decorating for two weeks now. We're useless! I'm planning on getting lots done while I'm off but today I'm choosing blogging over DIY!

I'm going to IKEA tomorrow with my mum. I cannot wait. I absolutely love IKEA and I haven't been for a few months. I'm not going for anything major just accessories for my house. Hopefully they have the smaller SKURAR plant pots in. On my previous two visits, they had sold out and only had the larger ones :( Are there any other recommendations while I'm there? I don't want to get home and have to plan another trip because I missed out!

Week 11

Finally got my hands on L'Oreal Confetti Top Coat, Cup of tea and a new book tucked up in bed on a cold evening, Breaking Dawn Part 2, L'Oreal Confetti Top Coat on top of Barry M Nail Paint in Berry, Hot bubble bath in the Lake District to relax, Pot of tea in Costa, Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Grapefruit, View from lodge balcony, Evening walk in the Lake District.

Hi everyone,

What a week it has been! On Thursday Morning at 1:30am, I woke up and was sick. This was followed by two days of constant sickness and diarrhoea (sorry!). I was off work Thursday and Friday and to be honest I still don't feel 100%. It takes a while for my body to recover after an illness like that. I am only just beginning to eat properly but I have been back to work today. My mum was also ill and my fiancé came home on Friday and was ill. However, we had booked and paid to go to the Lake District for the weekend with my parents, sister and nephew. By Friday evening, I was feeling a bit better and we decided to go. The drive up was very quiet! We arrived about 8:30pm. The fiancé got straight in bed and I settled for a bubble bath before tucking up in bed with a book. Waking up on Saturday morning, we were all feeling a lot better and we started to enjoy our weekend away. I will do I separate post where I will include more pictures and share what we got up to.

February Empties

It's that time again - my monthly empties and what I think of the products that I have used up. Apologies for this being a little late. I wanted to photograph the products in the first weekend of March but I was super busy with the DIY that I missed the daylight! Then I was ill with a bug, but here it is! Better late than never! I finished a total of 7 products in February. Some of them are products I will use again and again but others are products I won't.

Keratin Complex Keratin Color Care Shampoo - I have to say I have noticed a slight improvement in my hair recently but I have been using hair oil and hair masks on a regular basis. I won't be repurchasing this as I do not think it's worth the price tag. There are so many cheaper shampoos that are just as good and if I'm honest, I don't like the scent or the texture. I actually really want to try the Liz Earle Shampoo and Conditioner! With this months monthly essentials you get a free Shampoo, which is suitable for all hair types, and a conditioner for normal hair. I might have to purchase the one for dry/damaged hair just to try it!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser - Another month, another empty Cleanse & Polish. I can't quite believe I'm using one of these a month! How long do they last everyone else? I use one pump every morning and evening. I will continue to repurchase over and over again. Although I am getting the bloggers itch, I keep reading reviews of other cleansers and I want to try them. But I am staying loyal to Liz Earle. Plus I don't want to change skin care and get more spots. Thankfully, this has reminded me that I need to make an order! You can read my review of the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish here.

Original Source Lime Shower Gel - I have really enjoyed using this, especially in the mornings as it's so refreshing. The Original Source shower gels are extremely cheap but I don't find them that moisturising. I definitely needed to moisturise after use. I'm not sure I would repurchase. If I did, it wouldn't be for a long time as I have so many other shower gels to use (especially after Christmas). I quite fancy trying some of the other scents as well - tea tree and lavender and tea tree and mint in particular.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic - Another Liz Earle product! God I'm obsessed. This is another product that I have purchased over and over again and I will continue to for a long time. I'm looking forward to summer when I can spritz this onto my face all day long! Any excuse... I use this product twice a day. In the morning, after cleansing to close the pores and in the evening, after cleansing to close the pores and also to remove any last traces of make up. It's so refreshing and in the morning it helps to wake me up. Furthermore, it doesn't sting my face as it contains no alcohol. You can read my review of the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic here

Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make Up Remover - These posts are going to get boring if I keep using the same products! Like I said last month, I constantly repurchase this product. Even though I have sensitive eyes, this eye make up remover is the only one I've found that doesn't sting my eyes. I wish Liz Earle would make an eye make up remover! I know the Cleanse and Polish is supposed to remove even waterproof mascara but if I use it to remove eye make up, I find that I need two pumps and I really have to rub my eyes. Firstly, I can't afford to use two pumps every evening and secondly, you should never rub your eyes! Therefore I will continue to use Simple as it costs about £2!

Sure Crystal Clear Pure Anti-Perspirant Roll On Deodorant - Deodorant is such a boring but necessary beauty product. I prefer spray deodorant but after a few months of use, I develop a cough. I have to say that roll on deodorant lasts a lot longer than a spray. I actually bought this a while ago when it was 3 for 2 in Boots and this is the second one I have used. I always buy deodorant to stop white marks as white marks on any colour clothes, especially black, is not a good look! This deodorant did not leave any white marks but as it's a roll on, I just had to wait for it to dry before dressing.

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer - I absolutely love the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer but sometimes I find it a bit thick for using under my eyes. I bought the Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer as it's targeted for under eye use. As it's illuminating, it helps to hide any dark circles. I don't think this concealer lasts as long as the Lasting Perfection Concealer, but it's easy to pop in your handbag and top when you need to. I will continue to buy this concealer. I actually have a spare one in my drawer!

Which products have you used up this month? Have you been loving any of these products?

Week 10

View of Salford and Manchester from Imperial War Museum, Chocolate M&Ms to fix my chocolate craving, February favourites (post coming soon), Nails Inc Copacabana (At the Copa, Copacabana, music and passion were always the fashion), Found the Beauty Bible at my mum and dad's house (it's from 2004!), Nipped into town to get my mum a present from Neal's Yard.

Hi everyone!

Another quiet week on the Instagram front. Apologies. We spent Saturday painting the ceiling in our porch, living room, landing and stairs. I'm so proud of the finished job because neither of us have ever painted a wall or ceiling before. Then I did a lot of housework on Sunday and spent most of it at my mum and dad's house for Mother's Day. As I am such a good daughter, I offered to make the tea for the family. Because we have been decorating, our house is a mess so I did it at their's. If anyone's interested, I made chilli and I even spent half an hour washing all the pots! I think my mum loved her present from Neal's Yard and she's looking forward to having a relaxing bath.

Next weekend we are away in the Lake District. I am sooooo excited. I love the Lakes and I've been going since I was born. We always have a fabulous time. I will try and post lots of Instagram pictures to share what we're up to and of course I will do a post all about it! Obviously, that means decorating is on hold for a week! I'm dying to get it finished!

MUA Heaven & Earth Eyeshadow Palette - Review

This is the third MUA eye shadow palette that I have purchased. I absolutely love the MUA palettes. They are such a great affordable price but still amazing quality. The other palettes I own are Undressed and Immaculate Collection. Even though I have three, I still have my eyes on one more - Undress Me Too. Undress Me Too is MUA's latest eye shadow palette and although I don't own it, it looks a perfect dupe for Urban Decay Naked 2. It also excites me that this is the first palette that MUA have named all the shades. Does that make me lame?! Since Naked 2 has a steep price tag of £36, I shall be purchasing Undress Me Too very soon as that is priced at only £4!

Enough rambling - onto Heaven & Earth. This beautiful, beautiful palette contains 12 shades. All 12 shades are shimmery, which actually stopped me from purchasing this earlier. Prior to owning this palette, I always thought I preferred matte shadows. However since I started using this palette, I have been wearing shimmery eye shadows more and more and I have to say I think I've been converted! I prefer neutral eye shadows so this palette is perfect for me. As it contains 12 shades, so many different looks can be created. I love playing with this palette and creating different looks. In my opinion, it's perfect for day time and evening wear.

The palette comes with a double ended sponge applicator but I prefer applying eye shadow with a brush. I have to admit that with some of the shades there is a little bit of fall out. Although for £4 this is expected and I cannot complain. I use a tissue folded up and hold this under my eye to catch any fall out but you could just use a fluffy brush and brush it away afterwards. Apart from the two lightest shades, all of the other shades are extremely pigmented. Without an eye shadow primer, they still have great colour pay off. The eye shadows are soft, which make them easy to apply and effortless to blend. An amazing palette for an amazing price. Congratulations MUA!

Have you tried the MUA Heaven & Earth Palette? What is your favourite eye shadow palette?

Week 9

Cup of tea on a cold evening, Winner of my 100 followers giveaway, Domino's pizza, Create your own pizza with ham, pepperoni, chicken and beef, Catching up on some magazine reading, Mussels, Another pizza, Magazine freebies, MUA Nail Polish in Pistachio Ice Cream.

Hi everyone!

Another fairly quiet week! I sound so boring! Working Monday to Friday doesn't really allow me to do anything during the week. I can never be bothered going out after work. Therefore I live for the weekends, however this weekend was also boring. We finally made a start on decorating our living room! Our stairs are in our living room so that means we're decorating the stairs and landing at the same time! Plus we thought we'd do the porch at the same time as it's only small. If you don't know much about decorating, you have to prep all your surfaces before you do any painting. So Saturday and Sunday were spend sanding the walls and woodwork in the living room, landing and porch and well as the banister! As well as filling in any holes that we came across. My hands are soooooo dry now. I'm constantly applying hand cream. Next weekend we are going to paint the ceiling and hopefully maybe paint the walls in the porch, who knows?! Not very glamourous but maybe I can transfer my skills of applying make up with brushes to painting walls!! I didn't take any pictures of my messy, dusty living room. Who wants to see that?! I will take photographs of it all when it's finished but that will be a long way off yet.

Everyday Make Up #3

Blusher - Benefit Dandelion

My last Everyday Make Up post was way back in November before I moved house! I think since the move I forgot about these posts until I saw them in my blogging notebook. A few items have changed since but some have stayed the same since November. My foundation, concealer, powder and bronzer are all the same and I have been using these products for quite a few months now.

I'm almost out of foundation and I think I want to try something different next. I was thinking about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation as so many bloggers say it's a great drugstore foundation but the fact that I would have to select the shade myself scares me. I'll get home and it will totally be the wrong shade! Probably like I've been tango'd! So does anyone know if Rimmel have a similar shade to No7 Calico? That would be a massive help! Or I was thinking I would stick with No7 but get another foundation match done in early summer as my skin tone may have changed since I last had it done! Aahhh decisions, decisions! I have wrote a review of the No7 Stay Perfect Foundation, which you can read here.

Obviously, I am still using Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as it's amazing. However, I have been using light for so long but I much prefer natural. It suits my skin tone much better. You can read what I think in more detail here.

My powder choice is still Rimmel Stay Matte as it's perfect and doesn't cake. I'm not going to change something that isn't broken! You can read what I think in depth here.

As you can see, I'm still using the same bronzer as I was back in November (and September)! I just cannot find one that I like more. I almost fell for NARS Laguna because of all the hype surrounding it. I even went to Selfridges to purchase it but I just decided it wasn't for me. When I lightly swatched it on my hand, I could see glitter/shimmer. Even though many people said you couldn't see it when it was on your face, I didn't want to take the chance. So I'm still using the same bronzer, that I have been wearing for about three years!

A new addition into my make up routine is the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer. It has a steep price tag but I think it's worth every penny. It also helps that I got it for £17.50 as it was in a set on sale on the Clarins website after Christmas. Bonus! I don't technically wear this everyday as I don't wear it for work but I do wear it for all other occasions. It feels so velvety and smooth as I apply it and it leaves my face feeling and looking flawless. It provides the perfect base for my foundation and since using it I have noticed how much better my foundation looks. The only negative I have is that some days it doesn't cover all my pores but I do have relatively large pores!

A blusher I'm reaching for more and more is Benefit Dandelion. As spring is fast approaching, I think it's the perfect shade on my skin tone to give me a healthy, spring time glow. I pair this with MUA Shimmer Kisses Bronzer, which I actually use as a highlighter. I use my Real Techniques Setting brush to apply it to the top of my cheekbones and my brow bone. If I want extra highlight to add more definition to my face, then I also apply it to the middle of my nose, my cupid's bow and my forehead.

In December, I received the Liz Earle Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara as a freebie in the monthly essentials. I have been using it ever since and I absolutely love it. No matter how much I apply it doesn't clump my lashes and it adds length and volume. Previously, I was using the Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara, which I love as well, but I find I find it can clump, especially in the evening when I apply more for greater volume and length.

My eyeliner of choice has been the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner. I bought this shortly after it was released and I have been using it ever since. I only apply eyeliner to my waterline as I don't have a steady hand to apply eyeliner above my upper lash line. I wish I could! As I apply it to my waterline, most eyeliners have a tendency to wear off quickly. I find Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner lasts a lot longer and best of all it doesn't run!

Last month, I purchased the popular MUA Heaven & Earth Palette. I absolutely love my Undressed palette and I have hit pan on a few shades but I also wanted to give Heaven & Earth a try. At the moment in time, I couldn't choose a favourite but I am loving using both of them. They both have shimmer and matte shades and include shades suitable for day and evening wear.

Another product I purchased last month was AVON Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in Pout. I bought it because it was half price in the AVON catalogue and I thought the shade looked perfect. I haven't tried an AVON lipstick before and I didn't have chance to swatch it so I took a chance. I was so lucky as I absolutely love the shade. It's my lips but better and is my 'go to' lipstick for daytime. It has definitely made me want to try more AVON lipsticks. The formula is so moisturising and it's just perfect!

Which products are you loving this month? Do you have any recommendations for me?
