Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Grey Velvet - Review

I've been wearing eyeliner on my waterline since at least year 9. I can remember holding up the mirror while we took it in turns to apply our eyeliner at the start of English. Strange memory considering I can't remember much else! I also remember being amazed when my friend no longer needed the mirror! She was a pro in my eyes!

Fast forward to over 10 years later and I still wear eyeliner on my waterline (I still need a mirror. I don't trust myself to not poke my eyeball!) I don't wear it for work though as I work in a school. As I have blonde hair and pale skin, I often get "Miss, why are your eyes black?" It's just not worth the hassle. Kids notice EVERYTHING! I do wear it when I'm doing my make up for an occasion or meeting friends.

For at least six months now, my eyeliner of choice has been the Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Grey Velvet. It's not as harsh as black but still defines the eyes beautifully. As I said earlier, I only wear it on my waterline so I'm not sure how it applies when using it to line your top lashes. When I swatch it on the back of my hand, the formula seems creamy and glides smoothly on my skin so I imagine it would be perfect.

As the formula is waterproof, it's great for the waterline as it stays put longer than non waterproof alternatives. (Obviously!) By the end of the day, it has already wore off but I've read plenty of reviews that say it's easy to remove with make up remover or a good cleanser. Overall a winner in my eyes and I would repurchase again in grey or black as I'm a creature of habit and not brave enough for coloured eyeliners!

December Empties

Faith In Nature Coconut Shampoo* & Faith In Nature Coconut Conditioner* - I received this haircare duo back in Autumn and I wrote a review which you can read here so I won't go into too much detail. I'm a big fan of Faith In Nature after using these and I'm definitely going to purchase them in the future. I have so many half used shampoo and conditioners in my bathroom drawers that I'm currently doing a 'shopping the stash' thing but once I use up a lot of them, I will be online purchasing.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash - I love Soap & Glory products and Sugar Crush is my favourite range. This actually featured in My 14 favourite beauty products of 2014 and I'm definitely going to be repurchasing. Obviously the scent is my favourite thing but it also foams really nicely and moisturises my skin at the same time.

Simple Eye Make Up Remover - I'm going to stick to what I said in my November Empties post and use one product to remove all my make up. This was my last bottle and I haven't repurchased since. I'm currently using Garnier Micellar Water and so far so good. It does a great job of removing all make up and it doesn't sting my eyes.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash - I've fallen out of love with this cleanser or I'm bored of it. Either way, I purchased Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish just before Christmas which I have been using since I ran out of this. My skin became pretty bad over Christmas probably due to the large volumes of cheese and chocolate that I know I shouldn't eat. Cleanse & Polish has helped to sort that out so I will no longer be purchasing Clean & Clear.

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream - I actually bought this in Summer and took it to Mexico to use as my daily moisturiser as I knew I'd want to wear something light. It was perfect for those hot days to wear under my SPF. I used it once we were home for a month or so but then reverted back to my regular moisturiser. I recently found it with a little bit of product left so used it up. My skin is really oily at the moment, more than it's ever been but my cheeks are pretty dry so I don't know whether to repurchase now or wait until Summer.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair* - I received this last Summer in a goodie bag. I used it everyday, several times a day for months but unfortunately my lips didn't improve. When I reverted to my trusty Nuxe Reve de Miel, my lips were a lot smoother and nourished. As it's worth £20, I continued to use it but I don't feel it's the product for me. I had high expectations but I was let down and I wouldn't purchase this myself.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer - After watching a few tutorials lately, I have been applying this in a triangle shape under my eyes which makes use of the highlighting feature more and I have to say I prefer it so much more now. As I've mentioned before, I use this rather than Lasting Perfection under my eyes as I find it too thick. Illuminating Touch conceals and brightens at the same time making it the perfect under eye concealer for those on a budget.

Impulse Body Spray in Tease - Back to my trusty body spray! When it's on offer for 99p/£1 who can resist? I always stock up which is something I need to do as I'm currently using the new scent which I don't like. As soon as I find Tease on offer I will buy several months worth!

Emporio Armani Diamonds Eau de Parfum - I've had this perfume for about four years now. I have no idea how long you're supposed to keep them for. Do they go off? Okay, I've just Googled it and according to a few websites, less than four years! In my opinion, the scent hasn't changed in that time so I wouldn't say it had gone off. This was a lovely scent and I would definitely repurchase in the future. I would say it's more suited to day wear than evening wear.

Favourite Moments of 2014

2014 was an epic year. Obviously, my favourite moment was getting married but there were a few other events that made 2014 memorable. I love composing this post each year as it's a perfect way to reflect back on the year and see just how many burgers and pizzas I ate! 2014 was also the year I started drinking again so there were lots of pictures of delicious cocktails! I have literally scrolled through an entire years worth of Instagram posts and selected my favourites. I thoroughly enjoyed planning our wedding and I actually miss it. I had two amazing holidays in 2014. Firstly, I went to Tenerife with my friends for my Hen Do and then we went to Mexico for our Honeymoon. Similarly to 2013, I was invited to lots of blogger events and met some lovely new bloggers as well as creating new memories with bloggers I had previously met. Thank you 2014 for an amazing year. Here's to 2015!

What I bought in the Christmas sales 2014

Merry Christmas to me, from me x

Last year I got some really good bits in the Boxing Day sales and this year I looked but nothing took my fancy. I don't need anything beauty related as I have so many products already and nothing stood out to me. However one thing I really did need was a laptop. I've only had one laptop before and I got that in 2006 when I went to University. It's safe to say it's past its use by date! It's so slow and impossible to use. Over a year ago, I bought an iPad with the purpose of blogging but the blogger app is useless (come on blogger, sort it out!) Therefore I had to use Rory's laptop to blog but my time was always limited and now he has a new job, he takes it with him. My blog was being affected as I didn't get time to sit down and blog. Luckily for me I spotted this great laptop in Tesco's online Boxing Day sale. I've had it for almost two weeks now and it's perfect for what I need it for. A brilliant purchase at a brilliant price.

P.S. My blog should now be updated regularly. I'm hoping to upload a post three times a week; Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

My 14 favourite beauty products of 2014

My 14 favourite beauty products of 2014

Firstly, I want to start by saying Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fabulous New Years Eve and I hope that 2015 is everything you dream of and more.

It has come to that time of year where I share my favourite beauty products of the year. Previously, I have blogged My 12 Favourite Products of 2012 and My 13 Favourite Products Of 2013 so in keeping with the tradition, here are My 14 favourite beauty products of 2014.

The Body Shop Tree Tree Skin Clearing Toner

I discovered this toner within the first few months of 2014 and it quickly became a firm favourite. I have purchased it about 3 times throughout the year and it's currently on my repurchase list as I have ran out. Since running out about a month or so ago, my skin has changed dramatically. Suddenly, my t-zone has become extremely oily and this is something I never really suffered from in the past. I'd be interested to see if this stops once I start using it again. I'll keep you posted!

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

My Gran actually gave me this when there was about half left. Thank you Gran! I think it's the perfect shade for me as when it's applied and blended, it doesn't look like I have foundation on. My skin looks flawless with this foundation which is why it was the obvious foundation choice for my wedding day. I have about a third left now as I have been saving it for special occasions. I will definitely be purchasing it when I run out though. I will ask to be shade matched to make sure it is the right shade for me.

Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadows 4.0 Palette in The Truth

This has been my most used palette of 2014 and the one I used on my wedding day. The four shades compliment each other so well and I only need this one palette when travelling. I use the lightest shade all over my lid and in the inner corner of my eye. I use the middle two shades in the outer corner and crease, and I save the darkest shade for evenings out as I find it too dark for my complexion during the day.

Nars Blusher in Orgasm

I have wrote a review on Nars Blusher in Orgasm here if you want to read it. I purchased this from Cohorted with the justification that it was for my wedding. Any excuse eh?! It had been on my lust list for a while so when an email landed in my inbox informing me it would be in the next cohort, I actually set my alarm to remind me to be online! It does contain shimmer which I was unsure about but when it's blended it's very subtle and looks beautiful.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

I've purchased this twice in one year so it's safe to say it's my favourite bronzer. I use it every day and I have no need for another bronzer in my life. I'm almost at the end of my second one so another product for my repurchase list. It's £13 but two have lasted me a whole year so it's worth it in my opinion. The lightest shade is perfect for pale skin but can be built up in Summer for a more intense bronzed look.

No7 Stay Perfect Long Lasting Volume Mascara in Black

I purchased this mascara about a week before my wedding and tried it for the first time when I did my trial two days before the big day! Luckily, I loved it. This mascara isn't advertised as waterproof but life proof. Getting married is a massive life event and it didn't get in the way of my mascara! I love how long, full and curved my eyelashes look when I apply this and it has great lasting power. So much so that it's a nightmare to remove!

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

2014 was full of new purchases for me and this is another one which was justified by the wedding! Who doesn't want amazing skin for their wedding day. I can still remember using this for the first time and waking up the following morning to new and improved skin. I love applying this in the evening, it feels so luxurious on my skin and smells amazing. It contains lavender essential oil which is a scent I adore so it instantly relaxes me ready for bed.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

In the past two years I have tried many different versions of micellar water and I've only really liked two - Bioderma and Garnier. Although Bioderma is becoming easier to get hold of in the UK, it isn't as easy to pick up as Garnier which I can get while doing the weekly food shop! Also there is the price difference. Bioderma is £9.99 for 250ml where as Garnier is half the price for nearly double the amount of product. Plus it's nearly always on offer. That is why Garnier is my favourite.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in Pink in Confidence

Oh dear. I feel like a parrot now. This is yet another product purchased for my wedding. However those amazing Advantage Card Points from Boots allowed me to purchase this gorgeous lipstick without feeling guilty. Every time I apply this creamy lipstick, I am transported to a day filled with happy memories. This is my first YSL lipstick and I'm definitely looking to purchase another one in 2015. Any shade suggestions? Those points are building a hole in my purse!

Real Techniques Brushes

Firstly, I have to apologies for the state of these brushes in the picture. I forgot to photograph them for this post so I used the image from last year. I have to confess that they probably don't look much better right now which is why 'wash my make up brushes at least once a week' is one of My 2015 Beauty Resolutions! I love Real Techniques brushes and although I haven't used any high end brushes, I don't feel the need to. Since last year, I have expanded my collection and I now have nearly all brushes from the original collection.

Moroccanoil Treatment

After trying a sample of this miracle hair product, I asked for my very own bottle for Christmas last year. I ran out in November so a 100ml bottle lasted me almost a whole year. Luckily, my mum purchased me a second bottle so my hair can continue to be happy in 2015. I've been using Moroccanoil for over a year now and my hair has improved so much in that time. Don't get me wrong it's still dry but nowhere near as dry as the Sahara Desert anymore.

Diptyque L'ombre Dans L'eau Eau De Toilette

In 2014, two perfumes have been among my favourite products. Firstly, my very first Diptyque purchase that I managed to pick up in the Space NK Boxing Day sale. Because of the new look bottles, all Diptyque fragrances were half price! I hadn't really smelt them instore so I purely purchased this based on the description and reviews alone. Luckily, I love the fragrance and it has been my most used perfume of the year. I wrote a review early last year so I won't go into too much detail. You can read it here.

Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne

How could I not include this?! My final wedding related favourite of the year. I promise! This has quickly become my favourite ever perfume even more so than Chanel Coco Mademoiselle which has been my favourite for years. I bought it back in April (taking advantage of duty free) but put it away until our wedding day. I have used it since but only for special occasions including Christmas Day. As scent is a massive aspect of memory, every time I spritz this little bottle, floods of memories bring a smile to my face. You can read more detail here.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash

Last but by no means least, a body product. I only discovered Soap & Glory two years ago and Sugar Crush has to be my favourite range they do. The scent is unbelievable. I also really love the body scrub but I do hate scooping it out of the tub as I always get it under my nails. The pump on this bottle is great and allows you to control how much product you use which makes the body wash last longer. In this years bumper gift set I received Orangeasm body wash which I haven't tried before but I will definitely be repurchasing Sugar Crush in 2015.

What have been your favourite beauty products of 2014? Have any of my favourites made your list?
