Selfridges AW14 Fashion Showcase

On Thursday 9th October, I headed over to Selfridges Exchange Square in Manchester for their AW14 Fashion Showcase. The event was to celebrate the new menswear destination on the first floor and the latest womenswear collections on the second floor. I was very excited for the event and as I had a plus one, I brought my mum along as she loves Selfridges and was intrigued to see what I get up to at the events I go to.

How awesome is this skirt?! I want!

I also want this gorgeous handbag!

As we arrived, we were greeted by a Champagne arrival which is always a winner. There was also a non alcoholic option - Elderflower, which I also sampled and it was delicious. We had an hour to browse the new collections before the fashion show started. My mum and I headed straight for the shoe department before browsing the new womenswear collections.

The extremely talented Jacqueline Bissett in action

My awesome illustration

It wasn't long before we spotted fashion illustrator, Jacqueline Bissett who was offering a personalised illustration to take home. She is extremely talented and created beautiful pieces of art in less than 10 minutes. My mum and I are amazed by my illustration as it really does look like me and it captures me perfectly. I'm going to display it in a black frame in my bedroom near my dressing table.

Behind the scenes!

Apologies that this is my only photo of the catwalk. I watched it from the floor above so couldn't really get good images.

At 8:30pm, it was time for the fashion show to begin. The models descended from the second floor down the escalators onto the first floor to strut their stuff around the staircase. The fashion show consisted of mens and womenswear. I had a great view as I watched it from the second floor and could still see the models walking around the stairs. Unfortunately, this meant I couldn't get any good images.

These cocktails look incredible and they tasted pretty delicious too!

Christmas is coming!

After the fashion show, a pop up bar from The Alchemist were serving cocktails and waiters were offering canapés. We had another browse through all the beautiful collections - cooing over some beautiful clothes, shoes and handbags.

AX Paris AW14 Press Day

Delicious cocktails

Yummy cupcakes

Sexy red dresses

Stunning fur coat

Gorgeous Autumn clothes

A feast fit for a King!

Extremely generous goodie bags

Amazing henna tattooist

Me and the gorgeous kayleigh

Me and the beautiful Frances

At the end of September, I was invited to the AX Paris AW14 Press Day at Black Dog Ballroom in Manchester. We were greeted by very friendly staff and offered cupcakes and cocktails. They sure know the way to a bloggers heart!

We had the opportunity to browse the new collection and I fell in love with so many dresses. The new range is full on glitz and glamour; perfect for the party season! There were so many sequins! I'm not sure which one I want for Christmas as there were so many gorgeous choices. I think my favourite dress of the day has to be the green sequin one with the plunge neckline.

We were looked after so well - there was a photobooth, a lovely lady doing henna and a fabulous feast was put on for us, consisting of mini burgers, pizzas and fries. I had a fabulous day and it was great catching up with some bloggers that I haven't seen for ages as well as finally meeting Kayleigh after chatting on Twitter so much! We were extremely lucky to leave with a fantastic goodie bag, filled to the rim with amazing products!

Thank you to AX Paris and Black Dog Ballroom for hosting such a fabulous event. AX Paris, I'll see you in store very soon! It'll be time to buy my Christmas dress very soon!

Last month, I was invited down to Allotment Bar in the Northern Quarter in aid of a charity fashion event. The event was Fight Cancer with Fashion for Cancer Research. Lots of Manchester bloggers were there to shop, drink cocktails and eat cupcakes! Sounds like heaven to me! I went along with Rachael and we had a fabulous time.

There was a variety of clothes to choose from, from brands such as Trend Two and NaaNaa, these ranged from casual t-shirts to prom dresses. Most items were priced at £1-£5 and prom dresses were £5 or £10. I spent just under £20 and managed to get a few beautiful items.

We raised a fantastic £416.13 for Cancer Research whilst having a great evening. Thank you Branded Lab PR and Allotment Bar for hosting a fun event and for filling my wardrobe!

Summer Cocktails at Dalvey Manchester

Last week, I was invited to attend Dalvey in Manchester for Summer Cocktails. I was invited on behalf of Manchester Fashion Week 2013. The event was to celebrate a memorable season in menswear (and tennis), and Dalvey were offering 10% off on the night. Dalvey is a luxury menswear store selling shirts, silk ties, cufflinks, watches, accessories and more! I know I have never featured menswear on my blog before but why not? When I received the invite, I was going to decline for that very reason but then I thought, why not invite my fiance, Rory along and get his opinion. My blog has become a massive part of my life and obviously, so is Rory so why not involve the two together? Therefore I accepted and looked forward to attending a blogger event with my fiance! Back to the event...

Dalvey was founded in 1897 in Scotland. It actually began as a musical instrument manufacturer specialising in bagpipes! I think it would be a lovely idea to display some bagpipes in store just to share their roots with customers and it could also create a great talking point. Downstairs there was a beautiful picture that was taken of the Scottish Highlands. I believe this was taken by Sir Patrick Grant of Dalvey, the owner and managing director of the company.

On arrival, we gave our names at the door and we were checked off the guestlist. We were shown in the direction of the cocktails and we both ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail (I don't drink and Rory was driving). I have to say it was extremely delicious but I have no idea what it was. Just looking at the pictures below are making my mouth water and I want another one. It was so refreshing and full of flavour.

For a luxury brand, Dalvey had very reasonable prices for high quality items. They even had great offers on such as 3 shirts for £99, which Rory says is a great deal. Presentation in the store was extremely impressive. Everything was displayed in such a beautiful way, including the socks (I wish I took a picture of those!) The whole store is like a work of art and it gives an excellent first impression. Just look at the wall of shirts below. The shirts have been crafted from exceptional fabrics, including Giza and Pima long staple cottons, and they are cut and tailored to create sculpted silhouettes and finished with classic detailing.

The ties are made entirely by hand of pure silk. (Thanks to a beautiful silk tie in store, we may have decided on a colour scheme for our wedding!) They even sell pens and other desk accessories along with keyrings and pocket watches. Is it crazy that I want a pocket watch? They looked so divine and they were presented beautifully. Every blogger needs a pocket watch, right?! The wallets were what drew Rory in the most, I'm sure that's the equivalent to purses and handbags to us. They actually sold a lovely weekender bag and I actually wanted one for myself!

Fragrances. Dalvey sell four signature fragrances; Decuria, Aether, Vitae and Nocturna. I only smelt two on the night but they were both lovely scents. The fragrances have been developed with oils derived from natural ingredients.

Downstairs, Dalvey offered a tailoring service. How we ended up downstairs was quite a funny story. It was a hot evening in Manchester and we were going to leave as we were so hot inside and thought some fresh air would help. The lovely staff then invited us downstairs and when it arrived, the air conditioning was on and it was a beautiful cool temperature. (It was a good strategy as we ended up staying longer!)

Rory took advantage of the 10% offer on the night and treated himself to a new wallet. Its a brown caviar leather slim wallet and I'm sure you all agree - it's gorgeous. Just like everything in the store, the wallet was presented beautifully and it came in it own presentation box. You can checkout the wallet here

I had a lovely event and would like to thank Manchester Fashion Week for inviting me on their behalf. Make sure you all check out Dalvey online and treat yourself or the man in your life. If you're ever near the store, which is on the corner of Deansgate and King Street, make sure you pop in and check out all the high quality, beautiful items.
